2026 NUID Construction Project Update

North Unit Irrigation District (NUID) is providing and update on the three construction projects that will maintain and improve district infrastructure. Patrons, residents, businesses, and travelers should plan for possible construction activity, temporary traffic controls, and short-term access changes near the project areas.

1. Bend Fish Screen Replacement

Work to replace the district’s 80-year-old Bend fish screens began in January 2026 and is scheduled for completion by June 2027. The project is intended to improve the reliability and performance of district facilities. During construction, equipment, contractor vehicles, temporary road closures, and work-zone controls may be present near the site. Please use caution and follow all posted signs and directions from construction personnel.

2. Segment 3 – Lateral 43 Pipeline Project

Construction on the Segment 3 Lateral 43 pipeline project is scheduled to begin in mid-October 2026 and continue through April 2027. Work near SW Ford Lane, Old Culver Highway, SW Elbe Lane, and SW Franklin Drive may result in lane restrictions, brief delays, construction traffic, or temporary access adjustments. NUID will coordinate with contractors and local agencies to reduce disruptions and maintain access whenever possible. Click here to see a map of the project area.

3. Main Canal Lining Project – Phase Two

Phase two of the district’s main canal lining project began in August 2026 and is expected to be completed by May 2027. The work will improve canal efficiency, water conservation, and long-term reliability and may affect travel on SW Feather Drive in Culver. Travelers should be prepared for construction vehicles, traffic controls, and possible delays and should use alternate routes when directed.

Travel and Access Information

Construction schedules and traffic impacts may change because of weather, site conditions, and project needs. Please slow down in work zones, observe posted traffic controls, and allow additional travel time.

We appreciate your patience and cooperation as we complete these improvements. Questions may be directed to NUID at 541 475-3625 or nuid@northunitid.com or visit the NUID website at https://www.northunitidor.gov/
